About Me

Coleen Henderson, MSW, LISW-S

My Background: I am a Dayton native and grew up in the Beavercreek area.  I completed my undergraduate work at Bowling Green State University majoring in psychology and sociology and my master's degree in clinical social work at the University of Cincinnati.  I have worked in the mental health field for over 15 years, primarily in outpatient mental health and school counseling, giving me a strong background in community-based and school-based mental health therapy.  I am experienced in mindfulness, strength-based therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and brief solution-focused therapy, as well as in other evidence-based treatments such as trauma-focused CBT and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).    

My Philosophy: I am passionate about helping people and creating a collaborative working relationship with my clients and their families. Every client is a unique individual, and I strive to match the treatment approach to that person's particular needs. Also taking into account the client's input, I consistently focus on treatment that is compassionate, strength-based, and goal-oriented, while creating a positive and fun environment for personal growth. In addition, I encourage frequent check-ins to see if we agree on how treatment is progressing and if we need to make any adjustments.
