SESSIONS
Sessions are 1-hour long. There is a progression to therapy, which will be discussed at the first meeting.
In general, what is said in sessions stays in sessions. However, ethical guidelines and privacy laws mean there are some exceptions to client privilege, including the following:
The client has waived the patient-therapist privilege.
The client is obtaining services to commit fraud or another crime.
The client is a danger to themselves or others.
There is a suspicion of child abuse.
Growth Minds does not offer treatment for drug and alcohol disorders. A referral to a drug or alcohol treatment program can be provided.

We understand that life happens and sometimes sessions may need to be cancelled.
If you provide notice of cancellation 24 hours or more before your session, there is no penalty.
If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will be automatically billed a $65 cancellation fee.
If you have more than two late cancellations or no shows, you may be dismissed from the practice.
MORE QUESTIONS
Some people do not like others to know they are in therapy and can feel uncomfortable running into their therapist in public. I respect your feelings and will take my lead from you. If you do not initiate an interaction, I won't either. However, if you would like to say hello, please feel free to do so, and I will respond in kind.
Remember: "Public" is not the office. What is said in session should never be mentioned in a public setting between therapist and client.
Everyone needs help from time to time, and you may feel you need to return for one reason or another. You may just need a refresher of skills learned in your previous sessions, or you may be struggling with something new in your life. As long as you were discharged in good standing, you can return in good standing as well.
Please feel free to reach out to the office at any time. I am happy to answer any additional questions.
